The Indonesian Nairobi Expo 2024, which opened on Monday, officially concluded today, Wednesday, September 18th, after three days of an unforgettable experience.

Organized by the Indonesian mission in Nairobi under the leadership of Dr. Hery Saripudin, the high-level event brought together participants who engaged in business networking, trade exhibitions showcasing Indonesian products available in the region, as well as informative seminars, cultural performances, and educational opportunities in Indonesia.

One of the key highlights of the expo was the celebration of 45 years of diplomatic relations between Kenya and Indonesia, which is being marked this year.

Kenya’s Trade Minister, Salim Mvurya, officially opened the event on Monday, emphasizing Kenya’s efforts to diversify its export portfolio.

He noted that Indonesia, as the largest economy in Southeast Asia, presents a formidable partnership with vast untapped opportunities to explore.

“Kenya remains committed to fostering a conducive business environment to facilitate trade and investment in agro-processing, textiles, pharmaceuticals, and value-added industries,” said Mvurya.

In his speech, Ambassador Dr. Mohamad Hery Saripudin expressed his gratitude to the participants and visitors of the Indonesia Nairobi Expo (IndoNEX) 2024.

He underscored the significance of the event in promoting Indonesian products, culture, and education, while also celebrating 45 years of Indonesia-Kenya diplomatic relations.

“The good relationship between the two countries that continues to improve is reflected in the historic visit of Indonesian President Joko Widodo to Kenya in August 2023,” Saripudin noted.

He further highlighted the achievements of the visit, saying, “The signing of 15 agreements during the visit, mostly focusing on economic cooperation, including trade and investment, has paved the way for a deeper partnership between our two countries. I am optimistic that we will soon witness important cooperation in the energy sector, which is proof of the commitment of cooperation between the two countries for mutual prosperity.”

Saripudin also praised the opportunities presented by IndoNEX 2024, adding, “This event is a good starting point, to then continue the participation of Kenyan entrepreneurs in the 39th Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) in Jakarta on early September.
